a reflection of monday

ok so we had the final pitch to mike and dave, and our entire class. i thought it went ok jb did a good job talking but would of been nice if we had more of a better anaimatic that was timed better and maybe some more block outs. but over all i think we were ok defently not the worse i think.

I was really impressed with the pirate one tho i had no idea the animatic was looking like that, and the project and story does look very promising. just needs a slight tweak at the end and it will be great. im looking forward for next year working on both these projects now.

this is my only concept that i did for Lewis. as i came on his project at the end of this term. I will probably be doing some animation for his project to next term i think.

i know it looks bad. but look at the dummy logo. i tried to make the type front as if it where manakins bended and formed into letters, which i think is pretty kool

i just forgot to say that by no means is concept my strong side. It is my weakest part. Next term i will be animating with mike and proberly also modeling some assets for the main room.

over this week i will be helping JB with the animatic to try and get the best shots for the movie and also time it out properly. so that next term i know what i need to do

sorry that ive not updated in a while

ok so this term has been very hard for me for my own personal reasons. But im hopeing that in the new year i can re start again. i did manage to finish of the concept work for the dummy project and i will upload to here very soon. ive also spoke to mike and he told me to maybe do some concept stuff for lewis pirate project aswell so that i have more stuff to hand in at the deadline.

I will over this week and towards the final days of this term do some more concept and try and do some of better quality. But i have essays to complete to as im trying to balance it all out.

a small reflection of last week

ok so this week just gone was sooo random. no work was done my end except for a poster that ive drawn up in rough so far. Neil has been very busy doing all the concept for both dummy's and drawing the storyboards with jb. So neil is on fire at the moment. But this is his main role pre production and that was what he felt strongest at/. Other then that we had some other lectures and other side work such as PPD and contexual studies with keiren and gareth. i can totaly see next term that everyone will be focusing on there disertation which will defently have an impact on work flow for every team.

even this term we have two 2000 word essays to be complete by the end of the month... so gunna mean some long nights ahead

my role this week.

ok so for this week i need to be moddeling some of the assests that you will see in the movie which jb has asked me to do:

(Coins/Wallet+Contents/Pens/Pencils/Desk Tidy

so need to get these done by tuesday. I dont think i can manage that but heck ill try get half of them done. as i work on the weekends and have other private stuff.

live action or 3d - 3d or live action?????

ok so this is the nail biter for the group. to make the project in 3d or live action. I think 3d would be better for this project as you can control the lighting more in total 3d and if anything goes wrong you can easily correct it. With live action you cant do this. you need a room that is well lit and you cant go back to re film if something has fucked up, becuase you will have to set up the same lighting to get it correct again.

Also it will either look good or it will look crap. i saw mu li's live action composit test and i must say i was really impressed. It would work im just not sure if its the right look for the story or even the style that we still to this date do not have. Also live action will be quicker to do then a total 3d enviorment but its just its safer to do it in 3d then with live action. also we would need to hire a room to film in to so i just not sure???

Story changed again!!! & our lecture on layout

ok so half way through the day i found out that jb and i think mu li had changed the idea AGAIN!!! LOL but to my surprise the new story was more or less ok and i was happy with it. But we need to come up with an enviorment for it proberly is going to be an office of some sort who nnot sure.

i dont kn0w why jb changed the idea but as long as this idea is simple which it is it should still be ok. were not at all behind schedule but we do need to get moving. Neil started some concept which was good. And mu li was ment to do a composoting test last week which he hasnt even started yet!!! get movin mu li lol. This test is vital becuase if the tests are bad then we will do the whole thing in complete 3d.

the new story in a nutshell is the boy bummy trying to impress the girl dummy by him giving her lots of diffent gifts. each gift differnt from the other!. until in the end the boy dummy rips out his own wooden heart and she walks of with it more or less.

the lecture today was good he ocoverd lots of nice points and he showed us some movies like the incredibles to show us things we never usaly see. Overal he kep0t my mind focus in hand that its not about all the fancey tech crap its about a simple sotry that relates to people and there feelings. which i f eel this dummy idea does have we just need to plan it well and make sure that it works.

he also explained about layouts and what to do and dont do.

ok weve got the story set now. so this is now the start!!

yes finaly i can rest this weekend knowing we have the story set now and i mean properly. Were as before i thought that the story was all over the place didnt make scence and just a lil boring in my opionion. But JB did some good compramises and we managed to get a new story out which i think is great and will be much better.

The new sotory has some proper drive to it, a focus and some meaning! which is what a story is all about. I couldnt stress to the team how important storys are. They are what make yoy go oh yehhh i remeber that film it was good. Without a good story your film dont mean shit!. i dont care about super nice visuals all the time. As long as theres a good story everythink will slot nicely in place.

Main thing is tho good thing we did this now or our team would be a bit done for. As for me i felt that we had no direction. we just had this story that was ok had some story boards and mike and his friend didnt seem to like it to much, the story anyway not the characters.

anyway thats my rant over. Work can be started now and i just hope that this project turns out to be very well done and raves best film yet!!
